Quaker Women at Birtley on Sunday

Quaker Women at Birtley on Sunday

Looking for top five place

Darlington FC Women are back in league action this Sunday as they travel to Washington to take on Birtley Town Ladies.

The Quaker Women will be looking to take some confidence into the game from last week's 5-2 victory over Boldon Ladies. However, Birtley will also be confident coming into the game, after beating Darlington Spraire Ladies 8-0 last weekend.

The two clubs have met twice before, in the league both times last season. Darlington recorded their biggest league win to date in October 2021 with Curle bagging 4, Doudican getting a brace and Upton, Raine and Dagnall all getting on the scoresheet.

It was a completely different story when Birtley came to Eastbourne this time last year and ran away 4-3 winners with a goal in the last few minutes to rule out Hattie Raines 76th minute equaliser.

Darlington currently sit 5th in the league table with 17 points from 10 games. Whereas Birtley sit in 3rd place on 25 points, having played a game more than Darlo. 3 points would be vital for both teams and they will be looking to work each other out for when Birtley come to Eastbourne in a couple of weeks for the return fixture on Sunday 2nd April.

Any travelling support for the Quaker Women would be hugely appreciated.
