Quakers announce formal partnership with Her Game Too

Ambassador appointed

Darlington FC are pleased to announce a formal partnership with campaign group Her Game Too.

Her Game Too is a group of female supporters who are passionate about football and working to eradicate sexism in the football industry. It wants women and girls of all ages to feel confident and safe sharing their opinion about football both online and in real life without fear of sexist abuse.

Led by fans, supported by clubs and backed by partners, they are striving to be a catalyst for positive change. It believes in equality, integrity and empowerment and see value in everyone.

It will speak on behalf of fans giving them a collective voice on the most important issues, and will promote and champion initiatives to strive for women working, coaching, refereeing, volunteering and being fans of the game.

Darlington chief operating officer David Johnston said; “The board, staff and players at Darlington FC are delighted to extend and deepen our partnership with Her Game Too. Equality in sport has evolved massively and we want to keep this pace of change going. By partnering with HGT, we accelerate our understanding and learn from peer clubs, which is a great resource to draw on.”

DFCSG board member Joanne Cameron has been appointed as a Her Game Too ambassador.

“As an ambassador for Her Game Too, I want to actively promote HGT’s vision, tackle sexism in football, promote equality and ensure football is a sport for all,” she said. “It should be a welcoming environment for everyone.

“As well as playing an active role at my own club, I will also extend this to schools and junior teams in my area.”
