Quakers come from behind to win against Marske
By Ray Simpson
Early second half burst gives them victory
Quakers ended their pre season friendlies by coming from behind to win at Marske United.
After leading with an early penalty by Ben Liddle for a push on Jarrett Rivers, Quakers conceded two goals with some poor defending to give Marske the lead at half time.
But straight after half time Jacob Hazel levelled from a set up by Mitch Curry and Rivers, then within a couple of minutes, Rivers scored with a low shot.
Marske gave Quakers a very good game, they missed a first half penalty and also forced Tommy Taylor into some good saves.
Similarly, Quakers were denied by some good saves at the other end, particularly a double save by the Marske keeper in the second half.
We'd like to thank Marske United for the game, and also Billingham Town for hosting the match. Marske are managed by former Darlo player Graeme Lee, with another former Darlo player Ian Clark as his assistant. Former skipper Kevin Burgess also played in the centre of defence for them, with Joey Hope coming on as a second half sub.
