Quakers score twice in the second half to win at Morpeth

Fifth pre season friendly

Morpeth Town 0 Darlington 2

Quakers were below their best but scored twice in the second half to win a physical game by 2-0 at Craik Park.

Darlington striker Cedric Main's pace stretched the Morpeth defence in the first half and on another day two challenges would have been punished with red cards, but Cedric gained his revenge by scoring in the second half.

There wasn't much in the way of chances in the first half, except when Main burst away from the Morpeth defene and his shot was blocked, while Tom Platt playing at centre half, put in a goal saving tackle at the other end.

The second half started with another break by Cedric who rounded the keeper but his effort was cleared off the line by a defender. Jarrett Rivers put another shot just wide, and the keeper pulled off a good stop from Cameron Salkeld.

Pete Jameson amde a good save at the other end, bee Quakers finally broke through when Cedric's pace again took him clear of the Morpeth defence, and he buried the ball into the bottom left corner.

Morpeth then had a man sent off for two yellows in the space of ten minutes, before Salkeld scored from a left wing free kick.
