πŸ”₯ Match Preview

The Quakers are hoping their Christmas wishes come true when they travel to Scarborough Athletic for a Boxing Day clash.

Darlo come into this game after a 1-1 draw against King’s Lynn Town, when, after an Aidan Rutledge header, King’s Lynn replied with a goal by former Darlington player Jack Lambert.

Away from home this season, the Quakers have done well and are 7th in the away form table with five wins and one draw in 11 games, with 19 goals scored and 20 conceded for a total of 16 points.

Darlington’s opponents, Scarborough, are having a good season and are one place higher than the Quakers in 6th place with 35 points.

The Seadogs come into this game after a big 4-0 away win against Peterborough Sports, with all four goals coming in the last 30 minutes of the game.

At their new groundshare of the Mounting System Stadium in Bridlington this season, Scarborough have been a tough team to beat with six wins and two draws in their 10 home games this season, which puts them 7th in the home form table for a total of 20 points.

The clubs have met many times, with the most recent meeting being a 1-0 loss for the Quakers last season. The last win away at Scarborough for Darlo was in the 2022/23 season, when Quakers won a 5-2 classic with goals by Mark Beck (2) and Jacob Hazel (2) and a wonder strike from Jack Lambert.

πŸ‘€ Player Spotlight

Stephen Walker is a big attacking threat for the Seadogs, with the striker having found the back of the net ten times this season. The ex-Middlesbrough youngster joined from Whitby earlier this year, scoring 13 goals in that time. He hasn’t featured in recent games with his last goal in late October, but will look to return to the squad.

Jack Waldron is a marauding full back for Boro who likes to get himself up and down the right-hand side.

Midfielder Alex Purver played for Quakers before switching to Scarborough in the summer of 2024.
