The Ironing Man on why he sponsors the club
In the latest of our “Spotlight on our Sponsors” series, Sam Binns, the Ironing Man, tells why he sponsors the club.
“I’ve been a joint Darlington and Middlesbrough supporter from a young age. I have held season tickets for both clubs but more so Darlington in recent years. My first game was around 15 years or so years ago when I was around 10 year old. I remember getting autographs of Sam Russell, Kyle Lafferty, Clarke Keltie to name a few, waiting outside the ground before the game.
“With The Ironing Man being based in Darlington and a lot of our customers and staff being fans of the club, we wanted to work and support Darlington in some capacity. Initially we started with our board in the Tin Shed and our sponsorship has subsequently almost doubled this following season (our second year) with a page in the programme and a few other additional bits. We have also saved Gary’s (The Kitman) washing machine from exploding with the laundry service we provide for the home, away and training kits.
“I am really proud to be involved with my hometown club and as a sponsor we have been treat great with opportunities to support the club more along with invites to all the club’s events and games.
“As part of our sponsorship we are happy to offer 10% off our domestic ironing service to all Darlington season ticket holders! I’m looking forward to the rest of the season and will be supporting the Darlo from the Tin Shed. UTQ!”
