Quakers beaten at league leaders Tamworth

Quakers still looking for first win under Josh

Tamworth 4 Darlington 0

Goal: Willets (27 mins, 1-0), Tshikuna (30 mins, 2-0), Milnes (67 mins, 3-0), Finn 90+2 (4-0)

Quakers are still bottom of the table after losing at the Lamb.

For 25 minutes though, it looked as if Quakers were slowly gaining control, until a burst of two goals in three minutes put Tamworth in the ascendancy.

And a third Tamworth goal midway through the second half just about finished the game off. Quakers heads dropped after that, and a fourth goal in stoppage time completed the rout.

Quakers dealt with a long throw from Cullinane-Liburd quite comfortably early on, and it wasn’t until 7th minute that they were threatened when Kyle Finn crossed from the right and Toby Lees headed the ball away.

Jack Hannah also headed two crosses away, before Cameron Salkeld broke up the left for Quakers, cut inside and put a right foot shot wide from the edge of the box.

Quakers had a chance on 11 minutes. Jacob Hazel played a good crossfield pass from right to left for Salkeld to control, step inside, and hit a low right foot shot that Jas Singh saved low down to his right.

Quakers broke well on 20 minutes. A patient build up involving several players ended with Mitch Curry playing the ball in from the right for Will Hatfield to hit a dipping right foot shot that went just over the bar.

At the other end, though, Ty Deacon slipped away in the box and pulled a left foot shot across the face of goal.

Quakers again threatened on 26 minutes when they won the ball inside the Tamworth half and Hazel laid the ball off for Hatfield to try a left foot shot that the keeper saved low down.

But just as it seemed that Quakers were getting on top, the home side scored. The defence didn’t clear a long throw from Cullinane-Liburd from the right, and Jamie Willets had space to turn and knock the ball into the bottom right hand corner of the net.

It was 2-0 on 30 minutes, when Quakers lost the ball in their own 18 yard box, and Nathan Tshikuna fired past Robson.

Quakers were stunned by the two goal blast, and it was nearly 3-0when Curley broke down the right, crossed low to the far post, and Hatfield just managed to get the ball out for a corner.

Half time 2-0

It was nearly 3-0 at the start of the second half. A deep cross from the right was headed back at the far post for Willets to head just over the bar.

Lees then blocked an effort by Arlott-John as he broke into the area, and he did the same again off a Jamie Jellis effort on the edge of the box.

They missed a really good chance when Finn crossed from the right, and Tshikuna put a diving header wide.

Quakers made two subs on 63 minutes, Andrew Nelson and Jarrett Rivers coming on for Curry and Liddle.

After Quakers made two subs, Hatfield found a yard of space in the box, but his shot was charged down.

However, it was 3-0 on 67 minutes, with a low shot by Milnes from the edge of the area

Quakers tried to hit back and Hazel rounded the keeper and sidefooted home, but the flag was already up for offside.

Finn had a left foot shot deflected wide, then Robson made a good save low down from an effort by Tshikuna from ten yards out.

Quakers nearly pulled one back with three minutes left when Hazel turned quickly on the edge of the box, but his left foot shot was saved by Singh.

And in the second minute of stoppage time, Finn cut in from the right past several players, and beat Robson with a left foot shot that went in off the post to round off a miserable day.
