This week's youth team round up

How our youth teams are progressing

Here's a round up of how our youth teams fared last weekend in the Russell Foster Youth League and the Teesside Junior Football Alliance League.

Because of FA rules, we're unable to publish the results of any matches involving Under 11s and below.

U11 Girls

Darlington u11s Quakers girls Vs Gateshead redheugh red roses

A tough first game back after what seemed like forever game started quite evenly even though looked a little rusty, we more than matched Gateshead however quick goals before HT made the game an uphill battle.

Strong second half performance looked a lot more like ourselves but couldn't find a breakthrough but Gateshead scored a couple more and ran out deserved winners.

U13 Girls

Hebburn vs Darlington

An early start for our last away game of the season on a chilly morning at Hebburn.

Both teams started well with Hebburn going ahead but it wasn’t long before Darlo picked up the pace & went in at half time 4-1 up.

Second half we looked much better passing & finding space aswell as scoring a few goals to run out 9-2 winners after a solid team performance.

U11 Boys

Darlington U11 Quakers v Bishop Auckland

Last game of the season for the players and what a performance it was.

Unlucky for Bishop Auckland as they have been struggling through the season and had no subs today.

Today, the players played out of there usual positions and other's getting the chance to show what they can do, which they most certainly did.

Credit to the players for a fantastic first season together. Everyone is all ready looking forward to kicking off the 23/24 season.

U14 Girls

Darlington Feethams U14 Girls V’s Darlington Locos U14 Girls

Yesterday we faced another Darlington side in a local derby game and it didn’t disappoint.

From the KO the Feethams girls started really brightly playing on the front foot creating a consecutive run of corners and also with a number of goal line scrambles in the Loco’s box area we just couldn’t get the break through we required.

Then loco’s broke free and scored against the run of play with a week goal to concede, but this seemed to just galvanise the girls with two great goals from our centre forwards and one from their former player to take a 2-1 lead at HT

The second half loco’s grew into the game and we felt we may rue the early chances we didn’t capitalise on and it really seemed that way as the Loco’s turned the game on his head to go 2-3 up.

The Feethams girls kept pressing high and they really stuck to their game plan and the girls eventually got their reward at the end of the game with a great run down the wing, cross and finish to level things up again.

A great game for the neutral

Final score 3-3

U10 Boys

DFC Foundation v Boro Rangers Reds

A champions' performance from the league champions at Eastbourne today.

Darlington sealed their place at the top of the table with an assured display against a very good side. Early goals from SW, excellent finishes from equally excellent ZH crosses, sandwiched a trademark run and finish from SB. OR latched on to excellent through balls to add two more before half time and make the result beyond doubt.

Darlington could have had more goals in the second half, JB desperately unlucky on a few occasions but in the end it didn't matter...

After losing three of their first five games, the DFC boys went on a fifteen game unbeaten run (only drawing two of those games) to seal the title on the last game of the season. What a truly unbelievable turnaround! And still the TJFA Cup Final to come!

Special thanks to our sponsors Andrew Bruce Windows and Doors and WPS Ltd who made this all possible.

U16 Boys

Whitby fishermen u16s 3 - 3 Darlington FC u16s

Darlington brought their impressive title winning season to a close with an exciting match against a spirited Whitby team. Whitby provided the away side with a guard of honour before the game, a classy touch that set the tone for a proper football match.

Inside 2 minutes, Josh Scott scored an absolute worldie from 25 yards out. He watched the ball over is shoulder as he broke in behind the defence and as the ball was falling to the ground for its second bounce, he hammered a dipping volley over the helpless keeper into the far top corner… outrageous! Dylan with the assist. Whitby equalised shortly after as their dangerous striker grabbed the first of his hattrick. Darlington pulled back ahead though and led 3-1 at the interval with two carbon copy goals. First Harry Maddison then 3 minutes later Ollie Watson both raced through onto clever balls and poked past the onrushing keeper. Luca Smith and Ethan Mcloughlin with the respective assists. HT 1-3

With fatigue in mind before Sundays big cup final, Darlington rang the changes all 2nd half and although they could and should have added to their lead, Whitby pulled it back to 3-3 with 20 minutes to go; two superbly taken goals again. Despite a very strong finish from the away side, Whitby’s keeper was in outstanding form to keep some excellent efforts out and grab the draw. Overall, todays game was about enjoying the success of the season and we certainly did that. Spectators were treated to a high quality end to end game and saw the spoils rightly shared. A fitting end to an unbelievably exciting and successful season. Onto the cup final Sunday!
