Darlington midfielder Stephen Thompson said that he wants to keep on scoring after his winner gave Quakers a deserved three points at home to Brackley on Saturday.

Thommo took his league tally to six with his 54th minute winner, a goal that put Quakers into fifth place above Halifax and Stockport who both faltered on Saturday.

“A win was all that mattered at the end of the day,” he said.

“We couldn’t get the goal we deserved in the first half, but in the second half playing against the wind suited us, because the ball held up for us.

“We were on top for most of the game, but there is always a nagging doubt in situations when the score is goalless that we might be hit by a sucker punch.

“I thought I caught the ball well for my goal, I just put my head down and blasted it! I want to keep on scoring as many goals as I can now in these last eight games. We have 24 points to play for.

“They were a good three points that we can take into Wednesday’s game against Bradford, that’s another game that we need to win.”
