Last weekend,  the Darlington Girls made the short trip to Kadar Academy to play in the Linthorpe Cup. This was the first tournament of the summer for the girls and they were outstanding all day, bringing the trophy back home!

The girls played some fantastic football throughout and improved each game from the group stages all the way through the knockout stages to the final.

The girls went unbeaten all day, winning four games and drawing two. They beat Guisborough Town 1-0 in the semi- final in what was a thrilling game. They went on to beat Newcastle West End 2-1 in the final in yet another exciting clash. The goal conceded in the final was the only goal conceded all day, keeping five clean sheets!

A massive congratulations to the girls who bring yet another trophy home for the girls section.

Manager Shaun Mackenzie said ‘I was extremely proud of all the girls yesterday and how they stepped it up in the semi final and final to get the results to bring home the trophy. They are a fantastic set of girls and a pleasure to coach’

Massive thanks to all the parents and families for your support yesterday and always.
