Darlington Under 23s 6 v Gateshead Leam Rangers Res 1
Our under 23s bounced back from their defeat by Ferryhill last week with an excellent 6-1 home win over Gateshead Leam Rangers.
They were strengthened by the returns of Jack Mortimer and Liam Murray to the squad after being on first team duty last week, and those two were amongst the scorers.
Here are the goals:

They got off to the worse possible start conceding a poor goal within the first 10 minutes, then they got our passing game going and stretched the visitors’ defence and created lots of chances and scored some great team goals via Archie Small, Jack Mortimer and Steve Dawson. They controlled the rest of first half.
The second half continued very much the same way with Darlington pressing the Gateshead defence and creating lots of chances and went further ahead with goals from Mortimer, Kayne Williams and Man of the Match Liam Murray.
Also in the second half there was a brilliant double save from keeper Liam Mason to stop Gateshead from adding to their tally.
Assistant manager John Walters said; “We started very slowly and conceded a very poor goal, but conceding that goal seemed to get us going and Small, Walters and Dawson started to get hold of the football in midfield and dictating the game from then on for the rest of the game. We controlled it and created lots of chances plus scoring six great goals.
“We still have things to work on but overall it was a pleasing result as we go into our mini break.”
