Another good performance by the Under 8s

The under 8s picked up where they left off in 2015, with yet another great performance in the league against Whitelees FC. The lads have done really well since they started playing together.

The game started off perfectly with the team taking the lead through Charlie Cole, after he struck from ten yards underneath the keeper. The lead was deserved, with Darlington enjoying the majority of possession in the first 5 minutes.

Whitelees equalised just before the half time whistle, when keeper Zach Judson made a good save to his left, the ball was then bundled across the line by the opposite striker. The goal came against the run of play, and rocked the team before half time.

Darlington came out sharp with Harry Lambert and Logan Williams winning their battles against the Whitelees players, and scored two good goals.

A period a hard defending and scrappy play followed, with Whitelees taking over the game with some very good football and scoring some well-taken goals. This period was different for Darlington who had never experienced pressure like this, and it was pleasing to see the lads continuing to battle, when the going got tough.

Approaching the last five minutes Darlington bombarded the opposition goal with shot after shot, and had some success through Jay Bradley finishing off from close range, after a well executed move and then Harry Lambert got another.

But Whiteless kept battling away, and they were successful also against the Darlington defence.

The game required hard work, more than the lads have had to put in any other time his season. But they showed they were capable of getting the hands dirty in a scrappy game. Man of the match went to returning Ewan Irvine, who impressed in defence throughout the game.
