Winger Grace signs for our Women's team
By Ray Simpson
Made debut on Sunday
Darlington FC Women are delighted to announce their latest signing, Grace Dobson.
Grace is no stranger to Darlington F.C after being at the club from U10s to U13s. Grace scored over 100 goals for Darlington F.C Youth as a left winger and progressed on to Durham RTC where she spent a brief spell before returning to Darlington F.C the same season. After a season playing for Darlington Town, Grace currently plays her youth football for TIBS and is also a part of the Teesside RTC setup. Tibs are currently top of the U16 Premier Division having won 9 from 9 and Grace has contributed with 11 goals in 8 games and a hat full of assists.
Grace will be the 9th Quaker Woman in 4 seasons to pull on a Darlington shirt after playing for the club at youth level.
Manager Shaun Mackenzie said; ‘Having worked with Grace since she was 11, I know exactly what she can bring to the squad and there’s bags of potential with Grace. She is a pacy winger who is very direct and I feel she will bring something different to the team. Most importantly, Grace has an end product; she can put a decent cross in the box and can finish as well. She will also bring a bit more balance to the squad being left footed and she’s looked good in training with the team.
“Grace was part of my first girls’ team at the club 6 years ago now and one of the main reasons I proposed the women’s team is so the girls in that team had a pathway to follow once they turned 16 and potentially play for the women’s team one day. So, it will be a privilege to hand Grace her debut in women’s football like I did in girls youth football and we look forward to seeing how she can develop further.”
Grace made her debut in the 6-0 home win over Horden on Sunday.
