Quakers go to Workington tonight in the EvoStik League, and manager Martin Gray includes new signing Anthony Bell and winger Rob Youhill in the travelling squad.

Left winger Bell signed yesterday after being released by Cardiff City, and he could play some part at Borough Park, Quakers’ first visit there for nearly 40 years in their Football League days.

Right winger Youhill has been unable to take his place in the squad ever since he picked up an elbow injury in the friendly at Harrogate RA in late July, but he has now been given the all clear by the specialist to resume playing. He has been training with the rest of the squad, but has had to avoid full contact.

“It’s great to have Rob back in contention,” said manager Martin Gray.

“He’s had to wait a while to be given the go-ahead, but now he’s raring to go.”

Quakers hope to open their away account in terms of points, after winning home games last week against Frickley and Barwell.

“This is a good, tough game for us,” said MG. “They will also be a benchmark of where we are ourselves at the moment, and what we have to aim for.

“Workington finished second in the table last season, just two points behind the champions, but then lost in the play offs to Ilkeston. They will be the toughest game of the four we’ve had so far, because I’m sure they’ll be challenging for promotion again.

“We go there in good form and full of confidence. The performances in the last two matches have been exactly what I want.”

The only likely absentee tonight will be midfielder/striker Adam Nowakowski, who had a minor facial operation last week following his injury at Buxton on the opening day of the season.

Workington have yet to win so far this campaign. Last Saturday, they picked up a point from a goalless draw at Stourbridge, but they lost their previous away game at Skelmersdale by 2-0, and on the opening day of the season were held to a 1-1 draw at home by Sutton Coldfield.
