Youth Team Roundup

Here are last weekend's youth teams results:

Here's a round up of how our youth teams fared last weekend in the Russell Foster Youth League and the Teesside Junior Football Alliance League.

Because of FA rules, we're unable to publish the results of any matches involving Under 11s and below.

Saturday 14th January 2023:

RFYL Girls U14 Division One:

Darlington FC Feethams 6-0 Chester Le Street Amazons Flamingos

Goalscorers: Anna Curbeson, Chloe Sheppard, Lily Barber (2) and Izobella Ross (2)

POTM: Chloe Sheppard

Team Coach Paul Ross said; "Another solid performance today from our girls, limiting our opponents to very few chances, the majority of the game was played in our opponents half we should have really been into double figures at the final whistle with the chances we created. We feel in the last few months we have started to look really solid and really organised as a team with lots of possession and passing through the lines which is very pleasing to see".

RFYL Girls U18 South Division:

Billingham FC 6-1 Darlington FC

Goalscorer: Lily W

POTM: Charlie M

Team Coach Scott Buckton said; "First game back after the Christmas break was a tough test against a good Billingham side. Billingham started off on the front foot, creating lots of chances and converting them to find themselves a few goals up early on. Darlington eventually managed to break them down with a great piece of football from Rachel to link up with Lily W who found the net. The Second half was a much better performance from Darlington but tiredness kicked in and we just couldn’t break the billingham defence down who managed to counter attack a couple times to extend their lead".

RFYL Boys U10 Premier Division:

Darlington FC Quakers Vs. Pass Soccer FC

Goalscorers: FC10, IT8 and JJ11

Team Coach Sam Pascoe said; "What a performance from the lads this morning! The boys were fired up from minute one, first to every loose ball and not given their opponents any time on the ball. It was a joy for me and Lee to watch the way the lads moved the ball around this morning and the lads were rewarded with some really well worked team goals and a comfortable 3-0 victory".

RFYL Boys U10 Premier Division:

Darlington FC Feethams Vs. Revolution FC

Goalscorers: OR & SB

Team Coach David Boardman said; "We started the game quickly dominating possession and getting an early lead with OR scoring from a shot that rebounded off the post kindly to his feet to finish. We continued to dominate throughout the first half, but were unable score from several good goal scoring opportunities and were then guilty of conceding against the run of play. This seemed to have a detrimental effect on the lads as started the second half very sluggish and gave the ball away cheaply to concede again. We reacted well to this and got an equaliser in quick fashion from a corner, with SB scoring with a bullet of a header. Unfortunately, we couldn’t see the game out, as tiredness kicked in and a couple lapses in concentration cost us with us eventually losing the game 4-2".

RFYL Boys U15 Division Two:

Shotton Colts FC 1-3 Darlington FC

Goalscorers: Harry (2) & Lewis

POTM: Liam R

Team Coach Michael Eggleston said; "The lads had to dig deep to come out on top in a feisty encounter. We started brightly, and made the breakthrough after 20 minutes. Some great play by AJ down the left ended with the ball with Lewis 25 yards out and he smashed one into the net. The home teams equaliser came just before the break from the penalty spot. The second half was very scrappy, but we eventually went ahead with 15 to go after a good bit of build up play ended in Harry bringing the ball down well and finishing in style.  It was Harry again in the last minute to wrap things up, running on to a through ball and finishing coolly. After a long time without a game we showed tremendous work rate, attitude and resilience to come away with the win and keep us in the title hunt".

Sunday 15th January 2023:

TJFA Boys U10 Blue Division:

Boro Rangers Thornaby FC Vs. Darlington FC Feethams

Goalscorers: JW, RH (2) and SW

POTM: SB

Team Coach Dom Webber said; "Darlington's boys put in a brilliant performance against a team reportedly top of the league. From the off we pressed and harried and worked hard for each other with and without the ball. Boro Rangers were very good and despite our efforts created a couple of good chances but NH in goal made some great saves to keep them out. At the other end we were persistently pressing and creating chances of our own, a fantastic piece of skill and cross from SW left JW with a simple volley to finish. We might have extended the lead before half time with another couple of chances but went into the break deservedly ahead. A couple of tactical changes at half time were made but the message was very much to keep doing what they were doing in the first half and keep the pressure on. A great tackle, run and through ball from SB and super finish from RH put more pressure on the Boro team who started to leave gaps which we exploited well, RH scoring another from a rebound. NH was barely troubled in goal in the second half as Darlo grew in confidence, not letting their energy levels drop one bit. One more goal from another rebound by SW sealed a deserved victory. This team played with a heart and desire that had sometimes been missing early in the season but they have certainly found their way now".
