Youth Team Roundup

Our youth teams in action

Here's a round up of how our youth teams fared last weekend in the Russell Foster Youth League, Junior Premier League and Teesside Junior Football Alliance League.

Because of FA rules, we're unable to publish the results of any matches involving Under 11s and below.

Tuesday 26th April 2022:

TJFA Boys U10 White Division:

Darlington FC Allstars Vs. Darlington FC Development

Goalscorers: Harry, Ralphie, Zac, Noah & Archie

POTM: Harry Coyle

Team Coach Chris Coyle said; "The boys are finishing the season strong. Again the way the boys pass the ball and control a game through their movement is fantastic. It is a pleasure to coach these lads".

TJFA Boys U13 Division One:

Darlington FC 2-1 Northallerton FC

Goalscorers: Cody Hutton & Nathan Durham

Team Coach Lee Hutton said; "Tonight we played our last game of the season and avenged defeat from the same opposition that we played at the weekend. Northallerton took the lead in the first 15 mins when a poor back pass caused our keeper to foul an opposition player outside of the box. Northallerton scored directly from the free kick. Not long before half time Cody Hutton equalised for Darlo latching onto a through ball and drilling it into the corner of the net. The second half ebbed and flowed with both teams creating some opportunities. Literally the last kick of the game seen a corner swung in from the right from Cody Hutton. Nathan Durham left and nodded him from close range for Darlo to take the 3 points and finish the season on a high".

Thursday 28th April 2022:

TJFA Boys U10 White Division:

Guisborough FC Vs. Darlington FC Development

POTM: Zac

Goalscorers: Noah, Archie & Freddie

Team Coach Chris Coyle said; "Tough away game last night for the boys. As always cracking football from the Darlo lads, but the Guisborough boys done well pressing from the front. 5 games in 10 days has took its toll on the boys".

Saturday 30th April 2022:

RFYL Girls U10 League Cup:

Darlington FC Vs. Belmont United Robins FC

POTM: Holly & Paige

Team Coach Natalie Peart said; "Darlington started with some good pressure on Belmont and had some really good passing patterns but just couldn’t put the ball in the back of the Net. Belmont grew into the game and Honor made some excellent saves to keep us in the game. The girls went into the second half and once again played some great football and were rewarded with goals. All the girls worked super hard today and their efforts definitely didn’t go unnoticed. The girls go into their last cup game of the season next weekend".

RFYL Girls U11 League Cup:

Darlington FC Vs. Beamish FC

POTM: Annie S

Team Coach Mick Walton said; "Today Darlington hosted Beamish in what we knew would be a hard game against a very physical & well organised team, and so it proved. We started well and had the better chances but went in goalless at half time. Second half was much of the same but Beamish came out more and actually scored first but the girls dug in and we upped our game to score and finished with a draw in a really entertaining game.

RFYL Girls U16 Premier Cup:

Darlington FC 2-2 Hartlepool Pools Youth FC

Goalscorers: Lacey B (2)

POTM: Emily H

Team Coach Scott Buckton said; "Last game of the season for the girls today and not a great start falling 2-0 behind within the first 20 minutes. Darlington struggled to get into the game and Hartlepool striker was giving the defence a tough time. We eventually found our feet late on in the first half and ended the half the stronger team and even found the net to close the deficit before the half ended. Second half and it was all Darlington as they got more comfortable in the game and pressuring the Hartlepool defence. An equaliser came for Darlo through midfielder Lacey, a lovely strike secured a point for the girls".

RFYL Boys U7 League:

Darlington FC Vs. Spennymoor FC

Goalscorers: Henry (4), Dillon (4), Ollie (2), Jacob & Bodie

Team Coach Chris Fenwick said; "A game in which the boys dominated from the start and everyone on the scoresheet along with a clean sheet from James. A 6 goal half time lead was added to by Jacob’s first goal in only his third ever match and a first goal from Bodi who has been with the club since Mini Quakers. A great performance from the whole team".

RFYL Boys U9 Premier Division:

Darlington FC Vs. Pass Soccer FC

Goalscorers: Noah Powton, Finley Childs & Isaac Tonge

Team Coach Sam Pascoe said; "In the first half, the boys found it hard to create any clear cut chances, but credit to Pass Soccer who made it very difficult for us with their pressing and good defensive shape. We went in at half time with the game goalless and very few chances created by either side as result of both teams defending exceptionally well. At half time, we asked if the lads could be a little cleverer with their pressing, knowing when and who to press, identifying little triggers. We also asked the lads to look after the ball a bit better and be confident and don’t be afraid to have a go at goal. The lads seemed to take this on board well and Noah took the lead after a great run and equally good finish. We took a 2-0 lead when midfielder Isaac found Finley at the back post with a cross field pass for Fin to tap into the net. Isaac added a third goal to seal the win when he was presented with a 1 on 1 with the keeper, and he composed himself well, dribbled round the keeper and slotted the ball into the back of the net".

JPL Boys U14 National Championship Quarter-Finals:

Darlington FC 2-2 Team 780 (Team 780 win 7-6 on penalties)

Goalscorers: Jesse Nelson & Leon Griffiths

Team Coach Michael Eggleston said; "Absolutely heartbreaking today for the lads, who didn’t deserve their season to end like this. We were the better, more threatening side, going ahead twice in the game, but just couldn’t kill them off. The second equaliser came with just a couple of minutes left, when it looked like we would see the game out. Couldn’t be any prouder of these players, who have given everything for the shirt and are a credit to themselves and the club".
