Youth Team Weekly Roundup

Here are this weekend's youth teams results:

Here's a round up of how our youth teams fared last weekend in the Russell Foster Youth League, Junior Premier League and Teesside Junior Football Alliance League.

Because of FA rules, we're unable to publish the results of any matches involving Under 11s and below.

Saturday 26th February 2022:

RFYL Girls U13 Premier Division:

Darlington F.C Quakers 4-5 Hartlepool Pools Youth Blues

Goalscorers: Neve G, Scarlett S, Grace D & Amber S

POTM: Abbie H

Team Coach Shaun Mackenzie said; "Another disappointing first half from the Quaker girls saw them 4-0 down at half time. Pools Youth took their chances well. It was an uphill task from then on, but the girls regrouped and came out a different team in the second half. All worked hard for each other and didn’t give Pools a seconds rest. They got the game back to 4-2 but Pools then went further ahead. This didn’t deter Darlo and they pulled another 2 goals back but the game finished 5-4 Pools. A game of two half’s with both teams deserving credit for a good fair game of football".

RFYL Girls U16 Premier Division:

Darlington FC 3-3 Boldon CA

Goalscorers: Livia L (2) & Brooke G

POTM: Nicole G

Team Coach Scott Buckton said; "Last league game of the season against the league champions. The girls couldn’t of asked for a better start going 2-0 up within the first five minutes! Soon after we went even further ahead, going 3-0 up at half-time. Boldon battled back in the second half and showed why they are the league winners grabbing 2 goals back mid way through the half and eventually grabbing an equaliser with minutes to spare. The girls remain unbeaten in 6 matches but dropped their first points of the year today. League has now finished and we move onto the cup!".

RFYL Boys U9 Premier Division:

Darlington FC Vs. Newcastle City Juniors

Goalscorers: Isaac Tonge (2), Jude Nicholson (2) & Finley Childs (2)

Team Coach Lee Childs said; "Great result today for the lads, finishing off the league unbeaten. The boys were well up for the game today and started brilliantly with two early goals. From there we took control of the game until a soft penalty turned the game. From that we lost composure and headed in for the half time team talk level. The boys came back out in the second half more composed and determined to finish the season in style. After a quick tactical switch the boys took control of the game again and then held on despite conceding a late goal. An unbelievable achievement from these boys this season!".

JPL Boys U12 League:

Darlington FC 4-1 Scarborough

Goalscorers: Luca (2), Frankie & Sol

POTM: Luca Wray

Team Coach Richie Allen said; "Lads played well against a very good footballing side in Scarborough".

JPL Boys U14 League:

Darlington FC 4-1 Guiseley

Goalscorers: Alex Carter (2), Leon Griffiths & Dominic Thirlwall

POTM: Charlie King

Team Coach Michael Eggleston said; "We had to be very patient today in order to break down an away team set up to frustrate and counter attack. Thankfully we were up to the task though, and kept up our 100% record in the league. 9 wins in a row, full credit to the lads for turning the season upside down".

Sunday 27th February 2022:

TJFA Boys U9 Blue Division:

Boro Rangers United FC Vs. Darlington FC Foundation

POTM: Seth Boardman

Team Coach Dom Webber said; "The boys competed very well in a tough and evenly matched game. It was very difficult for either team to get their passing game going as both teams closed each other down really well. We opened the scoring but by half time it was 2-1 to BR. Though DFC continued to battle hard in the second half, a fine goal from Boro Rangers towards the end secured them the points. It could easily have gone the other way. Our boys can hold their heads up high and be proud of their efforts".

TJFA Boys U9 Red Division:

Darlington FC Development Vs. Boro Rangers Thornaby

Goalscorers: Jude Nicholson

Team Coach Lee Childs said; "A tight game between two very good footballing teams was settled by a first half goal by Darlington FC forward Jude Nicholson".

TJFA Boys U10 White Division:

Boro Rangers Madrid FC Vs. Darlington FC

Goalscorers: Archie (2), Noah & Fred

Team Coach Chris Coyles said; "Great conditions today against a good Boro Rangers team. Our lads played some quality football, playing out from the back at all times finding those little channels. Great to watch".

TJFA Boys U13 Division 1:

Darlington FC 3-2 Boro Rangers FC

Goalscorers: Cody Hutton (2) & Paddy Key

Team Coach Lee Hutton said; "A top 4 clash today against a very strong Boro Rangers Reds side. In conditions that have been much better than what we have seen the last 2 weeks, both sides had key players missing through injury. Darlo took an early lead through Paddy Key only for the opposition to equalise not long after. 1-1 at half time. We went 2-1 up through Cody Hutton only for the opposition to equalise not long after again. A well worked move and a precise cross put Cody Hutton through on goal and he took the opportunity to slot home the winner. Credit to the ref, players and supporters. The game was played in the right spirit and was a good advert for grassroots football".

TJFA Boys U16 Division 3:

Darlington FC Foundation 5-2 Kadar FC

Goalscorers: Sikeli Lewavakula (2), Kieran Marsden, Leo Pontone & Harvey Carrick

POTM: Kieran Marsden

Team Coach Grant Cuthbertson said; "The Foundation team played on a pitch at home today that seemed to hold up after the weather of late and the amount of home games we had as a club. Darlington started the brightest and quickly scored and another to make it 2-0. Unfortunately Dominic Stacey suffered an ankle injury and the play was stopped to assess Dom. Once play restarted it seems that the wind was knocked out of our sails. Half time was called and we were still leading 2-0. 10 mins into the 2nd half, Leo Pontone made it 3-0.  Shortly after, darlo gave away a penalty to make the game 3-1. Kadar soon after got a second to make the scoreline 3-2. The boys finally regrouped and ended up finishing the game as 5-2 winners. We wish Dominic a speedy recovery and hope to see him on the pitch soon".
