Youth Team Weekly Roundup

Here are this weekend's youth teams results:

Here's a round up of how our youth teams fared last weekend in the Russell Foster Youth League, Junior Premier League and Teesside Junior Football Alliance League.

Because of FA rules, we're unable to publish the results of any matches involving Under 11s and below.

Saturday 19th March 2022:

RFYL Girls U11 League Cup:

Darlington FC Vs. Whickham Fellside FC

POTM: Maizie:

Team Coach Mick Walton said; "Today saw our first cup game for over 2 years against a very good Whickham side who have just been promoted. We started slowly with the lead changing hands and going into half time level. Second half saw the girls come out reenergised, playing some great passing football that saw us come out convincing winners in the end".

RFYL Girls U16 League Cup:

Darlington 21st Allstars FC 1-4 Darlington FC

Goalscorers: Nicole G, Heidi S, Olivia B & Leah H

POTM: Millie S

Team Coach Scott Buckton said; "Today saw us take on Allstars in a big local derby. We got off to a great start, scoring two goals in quick succession. Allstars hit back with a goal, and srarrred to cause us all sorts of problems. However, we grabbed a third goal just before half time. The girls passed the ball around well in the second half and got a well deserved fourth goal to seal the win".

RFYL Boys U9 Premier Division:

Revolution FC Vs. Darlington FC

Goalscorers: Jay Brydon, Finley Childs & Isaac Tonge

Team Coach Sam Pascoe said; "The boys started the game strong and less then 30 seconds into the game came close to taking leading when winger Jake Johnson fired an effort off the bar. Our dominance grew, and we soon found ourselves 2-0 up. Late in to the first half and Revolution found themselves back in the game after a great strike from distance by one of their players, meaning all was still to play for in the second half. We lacked our usual high tempo in the second half, but we did create several chances to kill the game off but the Revolution keeper made a number of top saves. Midfielder Isaac Tonge sealed the win with the last kick of the game, with the game finishing 3-1".

JPL Boys U12 Division:

Darlington FC 1-4 Scarborough FC

Goalscorer: Lucas Wray

POTM: Jack Parry

Team Coach Richie Allen said'; "Having beaten Scarborough quite comfortably only two weeks ago, The Darlington boys turned up with the wrong attitude thinking they had already won the game. Fair play to Scarborough they turned up and knew they had to be at there best to get a result and that’s what they did coming out comfortable 4-1 winners".

JPL Boys U13 Division:

Darlington FC 4-0 Qualitas

Goalscorers: Paddy Key (2), Cody Hutton & Kane Hegarty

Team Coach Lee Hutton said; "In nice conditions for playing football we played some excellent football in the first half. It was good to see the boys putting into practice some of the build up play and overlapping runs that we had been working on in training. An all round solid performance".

JPL Boys U14 Division:

Brooklyn FC 1-2 Darlington FC

Goalscorers: Dominic Thirlwall & Leon Griffiths

POTM: Leon Griffiths

Team Coach Michael Eggleston said; "Not a great performance truth be told, but we still managed to get the win. After falling behind in the second half the lads showed character and tenacity to come back and grab the points. That’s now 11 wins in a row for the lads".

Sunday 20th February 2022:

TJFA Boys U9 White Division:

Hartlepool Pools Youth FC Vs. Darlington FC Foundation

Goalscorers: Seth & Jos

POTM: Seth

Team Coach Dom Webber said; "On a very uneven pitch against an opposition who liked to go long and use their strength, our boys struggled to get their usual passing game going and it led to a scrappy game, unfortunately. However, the lads showed that if it comes down to that sort of game, they can still win out and they showed enough effort, determination and, when it mattered, craft to win the game. A great corner from Sam and a terrific header from Seth saw us take the lead midway through the first half. An assist from James and a cracking finish from Jos sealed the game inside the last ten minutes. As ever, we are very proud of these boys".

TJFA Boys U9 Red Division:

Darlington FC Vs. Leven FC

Team Coach Sam Pascoe said; "So the boys long unbeaten run of 49 games over both their Saturday and Sunday leagues came to an end today. Today’s game today saw the boys come up against league title challengers Leven and was always going to be a tough fought tight game. Both teams had good opportunities to win the tight affair, but with 5 minutes to go Leven grabbed the winner. In reflection, Leven probably slightly edged the game, and were deserving of all three points. Both teams were a credit to watch today, a lot of talented young players on show today with bright futures".

TJFA Boys U13 Division 1:

Darlington FC 5-1 Boro Rangers Greens

Team Coach Lee Hutton said; "Not the best of performances today if I am honest. Not enough quality on the ball, not ruthless enough in front of goal and all in all a pretty flat performance. We started the game with a 3-5-1-1 formation. Although we had lots of possession the boys struggled to link particularly in the final third. The game was 1-0 at half time at which point we reverted to a 4-4-2 formation. It brought immediate success in the second half when we scored two relatively quick goals. As the game went on we lacked desire to win second balls and struggled to hold our shape. Another win but we need to be better".

TJFA Boys U16 Division 3:

Darlington FC Foundation 0-2 Kadar FC

POTM: Dominic Stacey

Team Coach Grant Cuthbertson said' "On a lovely sunny Sunday afternoon we hosted Kadar at home. Some fantastic football played by us in the first half which saw Sikeli score a wonder goal for it only to be ruled out for offside. Kadar scored from a corner to make it 0-1 at half time. Second half was a physical well contested game, a lapse in concentration saw Kadar take a 2-0 lead. Some lovely football from the boys today and they gave their all, just need to start taking more of our chances".
