500 Club members - Extension offer
By Chris Stockdale
500 Club members contacted with opportunity to extend their membership
Emails have been sent to the 500 Club membership with personalised options to extend their membership.
As a reminder; when the 500 Club was launched in March 2015 its aim was to help fund our return to Darlington. The original membership of 325 people played a significant part in achieving that goal, and those founder members are now almost four years and 81 league games into the initial five year offer. The original 500 club offered great value for money and analysis shows that initial contributors will be “in credit” by the end of this season.
As stated in the post-AGM update, the club's finances are currently very tight. The disappointing playing performance has contributed to a shortfall in matchday revenues; additionally, commercial revenues are behind our initial plan. Unlike many of our competitors, as a supporter-owned club, we need to run a balanced budget. Therefore, the playing budget has been reduced during the season to help offset revenue shortfalls and having received acceptable offers, two player sales have generated transfer fees. However, additional actions are needed to balance the budget through to the end of the season.
Opening up the 500 Club for a limited extension period is one of those actions. We have sent personal emails to each 500 Club member - if you haven't received an email yet please contact us: 500Club@darlingtonfc.org. Alternatively call in at Quaker Retail or at the fans' table on Saturday. You can download an application form here: Application form
Any 500 Club members without an email address will be contacted over the next few days.
