Salford played twice in the league this week and picked up four points. At the weekend they dropped their first home points of the season in a 2-2 draw with Mossley. Lee Neville gave The Ammies the lead at half time, only for in-form Mossley to turn the game around with two goals in five minutes from Andrew Keogh and Samuel Robinson. Jake Hibbs then equalised 13 minutes from time to preserve Salford’s unbeaten streak.

They were able to pick up a victory on Tuesday away to Ossett Albion. Danny Webber scored the only goal of the game in the 29th minute.

Away from the league, local rival’s Spennymoor Town suffered the ultimate heartache in the final qualifying round of the FA Cup. They found themselves 2-0 up at home to Conference side Telford with minutes left, thanks to goals from Joe Tait and Liam Henderson. However, Telford struck back to break Spennymoor hearts with two stoppage time goals from Adam Farrell and Mike Grogan to earn a 2-2 draw and force a replay. In the replay on Tuesday night

Telford scored three times in the second half to knock Spennymoor out. Mike Grogan scored the first two goals, before Adam Farrell sealed the win two minutes from full time.

Warrington Town made club history, as they progressed to the first round proper of the FA Cup for the first time. Lewis Field scored the only goal of the game for The Wire against North Ferriby United to set up a tie at home to Exeter City.

Northwich Victoria have moved up into third position in the league table with two wins this week and are now just four points behind leaders Darlington. At the weekend they won 1-0 at home to Ossett Albion with Aboubacar Sanogo scoring the only goal mid-way through the first half.

They were then able to win a high scoring affair at Burscough on Tuesday night, 5-2, with five different goal scorers. Michael Clarke, Callum Henry, Godwin Abadaki, Chris Smalley and Sanogo getting the goals for The Vics.

Droylsden have slipped to fourth after winning one and losing one of their games this week. On Saturday they suffered a shock defeat at Harrogate RA 4-3. The Bloods had led at half time 3-2 thanks to Ciaran Kilheeney scoring twice, as well as a goal from Ben Deegan. Harrogate were able to turn the game around, when Nathan Cartman equalised and Mal Farquharson scored the winner inside the final ten minutes.

Droylsden were able to bounce back on Tuesday with a comfortable home victory against bottom of the table Padiham. Kilheeney and Deegan both scored twice, with Daniel McLoughlin scoring the other goal in a 5-1 victory.

Scarborough also dropped points this week, as they could only manage a draw away to New Mills. Mills had found themselves 2-0 up at the break thanks to a double from Porya Ahmadi, before The Seagulls turned the game around to lead 3-2. James Beadle scored twice for Scarborough, with Gary Bradshaw also on the score sheet. New Mills were able to snatch a late point though, thanks to a Daniel Grimshaw penalty and earn a 3-3 draw.

Farsley’s recent struggles continued away to Padiham. Brett Ormerod opened the scoring for the league’s bottom club, with further goals form Ben Allen and an own goal from Matthew Dempsey. Dempsey then scored at the right end for Farsley however it was not enough to prevent a 3-1 defeat.

Bamber Bridge had a good week, as they were able to win in both the league and FA Trophy. On Saturday they overcame Kendal, 3-2, thanks to Darren Green, Chris Marlow and Stuart Vasey to pick up a league victory. They were then able to qualify from the preliminary round of the FA Trophy with a victory over Lancaster City, 5-1, on Tuesday night.

Clitheroe moved into the top ten in the league table with two victories, against Brighouse Town and Harrogate RA. At Brighouse on Saturday they were victors, 4-2, having been 3-0 up at half time. The Clitheroe goals coming from David Lynch, Sam Dickinson, Sefton Gonzales and Danny Morton. In mid-week Gonzales scored both goals, as Clitheroe won at home to Harrogate RA 2-1, Cartman scoring for the visitors.

Lancaster City won at home to Radcliffe Borough 3-1, Aaron Taylor scored twice with Tom Kilfin netting the other. Lancaster are now 11th, however they have games in hand on most of the sides above.

Ossett Town won away to Prescot Cables, Jonah O’Reilly being the unlucky man to score the only goal of the game into his own net to give Ossett the victory.

The final game of the week saw Radcliffe Borough and New Mills draw 2-2. James Hampson scored early for Mills, before Bevan Burey and Ryan Hibbert turned the game in Radcliffe’s favour. Porya Ahmadi though would snatch a point for New Mills, ten minutes from time.

The coming week could prove crucial in the Quakers season, as we face two tough fixtures. On Saturday we travel to Scarborough Athletic in the FA Trophy, a game which is the two sides first meeting since we were both in the old division three. We then host local rivals Spennymoor Town on Wednesday night in the league.

Salford City travel to Kendal Town on Saturday, knowing a point in their league game would take them back to the top of the league table, at least temporarily.
