Lifelong Darlo fan brings plenty of HR experience
Darlington FC have today appointed John Vickerman as an advisor to the board of directors.
John, who is a lifelong Darlington fan, has held HR positions in several organisations including Sky and BBC in the UK, Middle East, Sri Lanka and Egypt, and was recently HR Director of Fujitsu in the UK and Ireland.
John saw his first Darlington game in the 1964/65 season, and said; “My first vivid memory of watching Darlington, was of walking around the cricket field at Feethams to watch the game, and just being able to see over the barrier.
“I was a regular until I was 21 when my career took me elsewhere, but I still tried to get to games as often as possible, and I managed to see us win at Wembley in 2011.
“Now that I’m back in this country and based in London, I’ll be getting to as many games as I can.
“I believe that I will be able to help the club greatly with the experience I’ve gained in the HR field.”
Chief Executive Officer David Johnston said; “I am delighted to welcome John as an advisor to the Board. Due to his work commitments, John will not formally join as Director but will provide advice and support to the Board as well as utilising his extensive network to promote the club. It is great to have him as support for the club!”
Everyone at Darlington FC would like to welcome John to the club, and to wish him every success.
