National North Round Up 21/02/2019

The latest from our division

Our 2-0 defeat on Wednesday night left us 16th in the league table with 11 league games to go. Victory for Brackley saw them move back up to fourth place in the table.

Stockport County are now level on points with league leaders Chorley as the title race is heating up after dramatically coming from 2-0 down to win at home to mid-table Southport. Port had taken a 2-0 lead through Jordan Richards and Dion Charles. However, County have become a much tougher side to beat in recent months with goals from Jordan Keane, Darren Stephenson and Samuel Walker turning the game around. They are now level on points with Chorley but have played a game more.

Spennymoor are still also in the title hunt as they are four points behind the top two with games in hand on both. Mark Anderson and Rob Ramshaw gave them a 2-0 win at playoff chasing Altrincham.

Telford United had briefly gone fourth on Tuesday after a dramatic 4-3 win at Ashton United. Amari Morgan-Smith had given Telford an early lead with Samuel Sheridan bringing Ashton level.  Dominic Udoh and Morgan-Smith then put the visitors in control as they led 3-1. However, a double from Kallum Mantack brought Ashton level for what would have been an important point. It was Telford though who would get the victory as Udoh added his second with 14 minutes to go to win the game. The hosts stay third bottom and are still six points from safety.
