Three league games took place on Tuesday night involving sides at both ends of the National North table.
Chorley beat Nuneaton Borough 2-0 to move three points clear at the top of the table. They had to wait until the 63rd minute to take the lead through Alex Newby before Adam Blakeman doubled their lead in stoppage time.
Third bottom Ashton United fell to a 1-0 home defeat to Kidderminster Harriers. Billy Daniels scored the only goal of the game in the 63rd minute for Harriers to move them within two points of the top seven. Ashton remain three points off safety and six behind ourselves with ten games remaining.
Chester are a point ahead of Harriers in the race for the playoffs after a 2-0 win against Blyth Spartans to damage their own promotion hopes. Craig Mahon and George Waring scored the goals for Chester in seven second half minutes.
Away from the league, Stockport County progressed to the FA Trophy semi-finals after a 3-0 win at Maidstone in their last eight replay. They now face AFC Fylde for a place at Wembley.
