We went to Victoria Park in twelfth place in the table, and Pools fourth from bottom, and took a firm grip on the game with two goals in the first 18 minutes through Gary Bennett and Marco Gabbiadini.

Peter Duffield made it 3-0 on the hour, with Stuart Irvine and Tommy Miller pulling goals back for Pools.

We went to St James’ Park on the back of a televised 2-0 home win over Peterborough at Feethams the previous Sunday, that kept us fourth in the table.

We were too strong for Exeter, taking the lead after 14 minutes through Neil Heaney, and on 29 minutes Marco Gabbiadini made the score 2-0.

Gary Alexander pulled a goal back on 61 minutes, but Peter Duffield scored to make it 3-1, and Neil Wainwright scored the fourth in the last minute.
