More from Karl Alexander's extensive collection

Karl Alexander has an extensive collection of Darlington programmes, and here are copies of some programmes from the 1951-52 season:

Here's the first home programme for the 1951-52 season, which was on 22nd August 1951 against Rochdale. We lost our first game at Crewe on 18th August, but we beat Rochdale 2-1 in front of 5,962.

We played the reverse game at Rochdale the following week, and had a nightmare, losing 6-2.

When we played Oldham at home on 5th September 1951, we'd only one won one out of our five league games.  Make that one our of six, because we drew this game 2-2.

We played the reverse game at Oldham a week later and lost 3-2

We weren't very good at playing away from home -- we went to Sincil Bank to play Lincoln on 15th September 1951 and were thumped 7-2.

We picked up our first away point of the season at Carlisle in a 1-1 draw on 6th October 1951.

After drawing at Carlisle though, we lost 2-1 at home to Stockport in front of 5,845 fans.

On November 3rd 1951, we went to Grimsby and lost 3-0

We played away on three successive Saturdays. We lost 4-2 at Chesterfield, 4-0 at Grimsby in the FA Cup, and 4-1 at Halifax in the league.
