Quakers arrange friendly with local team

Game against new Saturday team in the town

Quakers have agreed to play local side Darlington Town in a pre season friendly on Tuesday 9th July.

Town, who play in the Wearside League, have been taken over exclusively by Sunday League team Albion FC, Darlington’s most successful Sunday League team over the last 25 years.

They are managed by local lads Mark Stephenson and Dean Irvine, and have signed up several Northern League players.

Commercial director Craig Morley said; “We are only too happy to help Darlington Town in their debut season in the Wearside League. Manager Alun Armstrong will look to send some first team players to build up their fitness levels, as well as some triallists and youngsters. This is another step in putting DFC in the heart of the community.”

The game kicks off at 7pm at Eastbourne, with food and drinks available at the Wheatsheaf pub in Yarm Road afterwards.
