Quakers ready for first friendly

2pm kick off for Motherwell visit

Darlington manager Alun Armstrong will field several of his new signings in the friendly against Motherwell on Saturday.

AA has steadily rebuilt his squad since he took over from Tommy Wright in late May, and most of the new lads will be playing on Saturday against the SPL side!

  • Keeper Chris Elliott who has spent part of his career in Sweden
  • former Newcastle striker Adam Campbell who was at Morecambe last season
  • former Sunderland defender Louis Laing, who joined Blyth from Hartlepool midway through last season
  • winger Jarrett Rivers, who once scored the winner for Blyth in an FA Cup tie against Hartlepool live on tv
  • defender Jordan Watson, who is beginning his second spell at the club
  • forward Jamie Holmes, who once scored a hat trick for Newcastle Under 23s
  • defender David Atkinson, who started his career at Middlesbrough and played for Carlisle against Liverpool and Everton

The squad (which is subject to change and additions) is:

Chris Elliott

Cameron Hall

Jonny Burn

Jordan Watson

Louis Laing

David Atkinson

Luke Trotman

Jarrett Rivers

Omar Holness

Sanny Lingthep

Harry Stansfield

Joe Wheatley

Osagi Bascombe

Adam Campbell

Jamie Holmes

Stephen Thompson

Brandon Morrison

Two players aren’t available Saturday – Terry Galbraith and new signing Michael Liddle.

AA says: “This is our first 11 v 11 game in pre season, whereas this will be Motherwell’s last because their season starts next Saturday with the Betfred Cup.

“It will be tough going for the lads, but their main aims will be to improve their fitness and to get to know each other better on the field. I’ll be making changes in the second half if I feel that they’ve done enough and give other players an outing.

“I’m also looking forward to meeting our fans again, I enjoyed meeting them previously at the fans’ forum.”

Admission to Saturday’s game is £10 adults, £8 concessions and £5 for children Under 16s. Children Under 11 go free if they’re accompanied.
