Nathan Cartman

The first time we played FC United was in our first season in the Vanarama National League North was on 29th August 2016.

We won 3-2 at Broadhurst Park thanks to a late winner by Nathan Cartman after FC United had come back from two goals down.

We took the lead on 4 minutes when Stephen Thompson played the ball through to Liam Hardy, who ran through the FC United defence and scored, and on 27 minutes when Mark Beck headed down a free kick that was helped on by Hardy to set up Thompson, who fired home.

United pulled a goal back when Jason Gilchrist chipped Peter Jameson from 30 yards on 42 minutes, and midway through the second George Thomson ran through and equalised.

But Quakers scored the winner with five minutes left when Cartman sent Amar Purewal away up the left, and when Purewal’s cross was half cleared, Cartman’s shot was deflected over the keeper into the net.

Quakers went 2-1 up on 48 minutes when Saunders pounced on a poor back pass and steered the ball past the advancing keeper into the net.

FC United had two men sent off, Samuel Tattum and Lewis Mansell for second yellows.
