The first ever Darlington FC Christmas party was a huge success!
The Central Hall in the Dolphin Centre was jam-packed with fans and sponsors for the party, which started at 7pm and ran till midnight.
There was a great meal and entertainment, with the highlight of the evening being the prize draw.
The club is now able to announce that we sold over 5,000 prize draw tickets – including 700 on the night – and we would like to congratulate all the prize winners (the list is here, https://darlingtonfc.co.uk/news/christmas-prize-draw-winners-have-you-won-1000). We will be making a donation to the children’s ward of Darlington Memorial Hospital in due course.
The players mixed with their sponsors and fans to produce a really positive atmosphere, while chief executive officer David Johnston talked about the future.
Our auction also raised £760 for the club:
- £350 for an Alun Armstrong shirt, signed by the man himself.
- £210 for a 1982 Darlington v Southampton programme signed by Kevin Keegan (who played for Southampton that night)
- £200 for a 1966 World Cup programme, signed by England hat trick hero Geoff Hurst.
We’d like to thank everyone who purchased the items.
The club would like to thank
- Craig Morley, the club’s commercial director for organising the evening,
- Paul and Lisa Soderman from the Dolphin Centre
- Uneek Staffing (for the hospitality ladies)
- Carl Douthwaite (for the disco)
- Ian Glenning (for the pig racing)
- The staff of the Dolphin Centre
- Our sponsors
- Our volunteers
- The players and team management giving up their time
Then to cap off a perfect weekend the lads went to York the following day and won 1-0!
