Come and watch us play, says DJ

Double up for Gloucester

Darlington chief executive officer David Johnston says that now is a great time to come and watch the Quakers in the Vanarama National League North.

Quakers won their seventh home league game of the season on Boxing Day against Spennymoor, to put them just two places below the play offs.

“Now is a great time to come along and watch Darlington in action,” he said.

“We have just experienced one of the biggest moments in the club’s recent history when Stephen Thompson scored his 100th goal for the club by scoring the winner against Spennymoor, and I’m certain that there are more to come.

“As a club, we are now entering one of the most exciting periods in the club’s history. Our team has produced some great football, and all in a family-friendly atmosphere.

“We would love more people to come along and watch us play. Why not bring a friend long to watch the Gloucester game this Saturday, and bring an under 11 for free?

“This is what we have achieved this season:

  • Appointed a manager in Alun Armstrong who wants his team to produce an exciting and entertaining brand of flowing football
  • Brought in some experienced players who know how to play good football
  • Striker Stephen Thompson has equalled the club’s all-time scoring record of 100 goals
  • Won three times away from home before we reached the FA Cup first round proper for the first time as a fan-owned club
  • Held a League Two club to a 2-2 in the first round of the FA Cup before narrowly losing the replay
  • Won seven out of our twelve home league games this season
  • Beat second placed York City at Bootham Crescent, where they hadn’t lost in the league this season
  • Beat Chester, who were third at the time, at Blackwell Meadows
  • Beat local rivals Spennymoor, who were unbeaten in 13 games before we beat them 2-1
  • After our Boxing Day win over Spennymoor, we were just two places below the play off positions.
  • On many occasions, we have sold out our hospitality lounge.
  • Established a Darlington Football Club Foundation to help us reach out to the local community
  • Strengthened our links with the local business community
  • Signed an extended shirt sponsorship deal with EBAC

“So why not come along and watch us play Gloucester this Saturday?”
