An appeal to raise £280 was launched yesterday evening so that two GoPro action cameras could be purchased. With a handful of donations still to come fans have raised just over £300 pounds for the cameras in less than a day. The total includes a very generous individual donation of £140!
The money will go towards buying two cameras which can be placed in the corner of the goalmouths to capture goal-cam footage. A number of clubs in the Football League have being using the popular cameras, well known for their durability and size, with some amazing results.
The Club, again thanks to one of its supporters, were fortunate enough to have the opportunity to try one of the cameras at the weekend. Although no goals were captured as it was only used in the second half, the results were impressive and have gone down well with fans.
Darlington Football Club will be at the cutting edge at non-league level, to use the cameras as part of their match coverage.
Club Director Dave Mills is again delighted with the response to this latest fundraiser. He said, "To raise the funds to cover the cost of the GoPro camera in less than 24 hours online is truly amazing. It’s the fans way of showing not only support for their club, but also their appreciation for Kev Luff’s professional video coverage of our matches, in allowing him to now purchase the goal-cam which will enhance the match highlights even further. On behalf of the Club I’d like to say thanks you to all those who donated."
The two cameras should hopefully add an extra dimension to the club’s official YouTube channel. For the last three seasons Quakers have filmed extended highlights of their games and this campaign has seen the club cover nearly 50 first team games.
