Quakers were knocked out of the FA Cup by a second half goal at Ewen Fields.

They had plenty of opportunities to win the game, but they were caught by a goal from Jack Redshaw on 79 minutes. It means that the six game winning run came to an end.

There was an early chance for Quakers. Mark Beck flicked on Ben Hedley’s long ball for Jacob Hazel who was denied by a defender.

From Jack Lambert’s corner, David Wheater nodded the ball down for Hazel to drive narrowly over the top from ten yards

Hyde won their first corner on 7 minutes when new signing Dan Dodds blocked a shot, but Quakers comfortably dealt with it.Hyde had a half chance with a cross from the right by former Quaker Adam Dawson, and Jack Redshaw’s header was comfortably saved by Taylor.

Quakers had a corner on 11 minutes by Ben Liddle, and the ball came out to the edge of the box for Lambert, who, off balance, fired over the top.

Dodds, playing at right back, intercepted a crossfield ball facing his own goal, and did well to wrongfoot an opponent and get the ball away.

Hyde had their first real chance on 25 minutes. Eddie Brown found Redshaw on the left, and he cut in and hit a right foot shot that Taylor saved down to his left.

But there was an opening for Quakers at the other end, when a left wing cross bounced off a defender for Hazel to turn and fire straight at Bellagambi.

Beck then found Felix down the right, he got into the box, but a defender intercepted his pull back.

Quakers nearly broke through on 31 minutes. Purver won possession and found Felix in the box, and the winger kept the ball well and set up Liddle, who fired just over the top.

Taylor had to make his second save of the game when a high right wing cross dropped for Liam Tongue, whose powerful shot was parried by the keeper.

Half time 0-0

Quakers nearly broke through on 48 minutes. Dodds flighted a cross over to the far post, where Hazel nodded the ball down, and Bellagambi just got to the ball before Beck.

Felix then made a great run to get into the box, and the keeper just managed to stop Beck.

Hedley  crossed high from the left for Beck to tower above a defender but head straight into the keeper’s hands.

Wheater pulled off a good tackle on Mampala in his own box after the striker was given a shooting chance.

After an inswinging corner from Lambert floated just past the upright, Redshaw replied with a run that ended with a shot over the top.

After Diogo Barbosa came on for Liddle, Quakers had their best chance yet on 67 minutes when Hazel sent Felix racing clear in the inside left position but Bellagambi blocked his shot at his near post.

Quakers had a lucky escape on 75 minutes when Wheater, who was about to play the ball midway inside his own half, suddenly pulled up with an injury, and just as Brown was breaking away, the ref pulled him back for a foul when there didn’t appear to have been any contact.

Wheater resumed after treatment, but was still in some discomfort. Hyde broke through on 79 minutes. A long ball went over the top of the Darlington defence, Redshaw controlled it and fired into the top corner.

It was nearly 2-0 when Brown again found space in the box, and Taylor touched his left foot shot against the bar.

Callum Spooner then broke down the right, and fired across the face of goal.

Quakers won a corner on 86 minutes, but Hyde broke away from it and Spooner fired over the top.

Quakers tried again when Beck found Lambert on the left corner of the box, and he chipped the ball over the top.
