The latest action from our division
While we were not in action on Saturday three games took place in the National North.
Boston United moved up to ninth with a 2-1 victory over FC United of Manchester, who remain in the bottom three. Chris Sharp had given FC United a shock lead, but they were ahead for less than ten minutes as Gavin Allott brought the hosts level. The Pilgrims went on to win the game when Nicholas Walker scored in the 62nd minute leaving them just a point off the playoffs.
Curzon Ashton picked up an important late win at Hereford. The Bulls had taken the lead thanks Daniel Gleenslade, but Lewis Reilly and Sean Miller two minutes from time gave Curzon Ashton a 2-1 victory. It leaves them just four points off the top seven. Hereford remain four bottom four points off the relegation zone.
York picked up a crucial 3-2 win at Alfreton to move ahead our ourselves and seven points ahead of the bottom three. Sean Newton put York ahead early on, but Reece Styche scored twice to put Alfreton 2-1 up. However, Alex Kempster and Jordan Burrow both scored in the final six minutes to earn York the victory.
Elsewhere three of our sides played in the FA Trophy. Brackley and Stockport picked up very impressive victories over National Premier sides Chesterfield and Harrogate respectively to move into the quarter finals. Whilst Blyth fell to a 1-0 defeat at Leyton Orient. Spennymoor and Telford’s game has been postponed and will now be played on Tuesday.
