Northallerton 0 Darlington 4

Quakers' build up to the new season continued with a comfortable 4-0 away win at Northern League Northallerton.

After an even first twenty minutes, Quakers slowly gained control of the game with some very good football which allowed them to score four good goals.

Again, there were some very good individual performances, with right winger Justin Donawa doing his chances of a permanent contract a power of good with a goal and some good runs.

Quakers had the first real chance of the game on 15 minutes. Jarrett Rivers started the move with a good diagonal run from right to left, exchanged passes with Jordan Watson, and forced Northallerton keeper Tom Dawson into a good save from just inside the area.

After former Darlington player Chris Emms went close for Northallerton, Cameron Holliday, up supporting Jarrett Rivers, forced a good save out of Dawson.

Quakers took the lead five minutes before the break, when Cedwyn Scott showed good composure to fire past Dawson.

Northallerton nearly levelled just before half time, but Chris Elliott did well to save from Jason Blackburn.

Quakers made five changes at half time, but it was Northallerton who nearly scored through Emms, who hit the right hand post from a 20 yard free kick.

Donawa, who came on as a half time sub, then dribbled in from the right and forced Steven Hubery into a good save, but the Bermudan broke through for the second goal almost on the hour.

Adam Campbell got away down the left, beat a defender, and rolled the ball back across the face of goal for Donawa to sidefoot past the keeper.

Three minutes later, it was 3-0 with possibly the goal of the match, when Thompson held the ball up well on the left, and slipped the ball through for supporting full back Michael Liddle to latch on to and smack past the advancing keeper into the roof of the net.

Subs by both sides not surprisingly disrupted the flow of play, and Quakers got their fourth in the dying seconds when a corner was cleared to the edge of the box where Tom Lycett drilled a low right foot shot into the bottom corner.
