Two goals in the space of a minute from Huddersfield loanees Kit Elliott and Ben Jackson gave Quakers the points at York Street.

Manager Tommy Wright made three substitutions at half time, and they changed the course of the game, as Quakers were in better shape and threatened more in the second half

Boston nearly took the lead on 6 minutes. A high ball into the Darlington box caused hesitation between Simon Ainge and Jake Turner allowing Jay Rollins to nip in, but Turner blocked the striker’s effort.

Boston had another chance on 12 minutes when Andi Thanoj fed the ball through for Andre Johnson to fire over the top.

Quakers had Terry Galbraith to thank on 15 minutes when he got back to clear an effort at the far post by Max Wright from a deep left wing cross.

Quakers nearly took the lead on 20 minutes, when Nicholson picked up a loose ball in midfield, played a 1-2 with Stephen Thompson, and forced George Willis into a low save down to his right.

Quakers changed formation midway through the half, and Nicholson, now playing on the right, cut in from that side and struck a left foot shot that was blocked for a corner.

From the corner, the ball went back to Galbraith, who set up Nicholson, and he hit a low shot that Willis saved at full stretch again.

Quakers forced another corner on 29 minutes that Galbraith swung over to the unmarked Elliott at the far post, but the midfielder couldn’t get a good connection on his effort from a couple of yards out.

Boston broke out and nearly scored on 34 minutes when Max Wright controlled a crossfield pass on the right, stepped inside Jackson, and hit a left foot shot that went a yard wide.

Boston had a chance just on half time, Rollins got through, but Turner pulled off an excellent point blank save, and Galbraith was on the line to stop Johnson from scoring off the rebound.

Half time 0-0

Manager Tommy Wright made three changes at half time. Kit Elliott, Harvey Saunders and Wilson Kneeshaw came on for Tom Elliott, Alex Henshall and Jordan Nicholson.

Quakers nearly took the lead on 49 minutes. Kneeshaw, on the left hand side, crossed to the far post where Thompson got in a powerful header that Willis saved one handed.

Then Palmer nearly caught Willis off guard with a free kick into the near post, the keeper just holding on.

From a more central position, Palmer hit a fierce free kick that Willis fumbled and a defender scrambled away.

Quakers took the lead on 58 minutes. Thompson made a good run down the right, was challenged but the ball went back to Trotman, who squared for Palmer who in turn helped the ball onto the left side of the box for sub Kit Elliott, who took his time and measured a right foot shot across the keeper and into the bottom corner.

And within a minute, it was 2-0, when Jackson moved forward and hit a tremendous left foot shot from 35 yards that flew past the keeper in to the net!

It was nearly 3-0 on 70 minutes when Ainge was inches away from connecting to a Galbraith corner, and late in the game Kneeshaw was denied by Willis.
