Reaction to record Boost the Budget total
Darlington fans raised a record £134,725 in the Boost the Budget campaign which closed at midnight last night!
Everybody was blown away by the final total, which was the third successive year that Darlington fans have raised six figures in the Boost the Budget campaign, and brings the total invested in the club by Darlington fans to over £1.6 million since we became a fan-owned club in 2012. It was also £14,725 more than the initial target of £120,000.
Last year's record figure of £131,385 was passed with two hours remaining, an outstanding achievement in itself.
The club would like to thank all of the 713 people (three more than last year) who contributed, and chief executive officer David Johnston said; "Once again, Darlington fans have proved that they are phenomenal. To contribute this amount and beat last year's figure in such tough times for everybody, and having not seen their team play in the flesh since March last year, speaks volumes for their love and support for the club. I will be doing my best to help Alun ensure that we get value for their money. The club is very grateful."
Manager Alun Armstrong is tracking several players at the moment, and said; "It's another superb achievement by the fans, and I would like to very much thank them for putting their faith in the club.
