Darlington Football Club / 24th October 2014 Simon Hahn brings us his weekly Evo-Stik round up This week Darlington took a break from league action, as they competed in two cup competitions. On Saturday we progressed in the FA Trophy with victory away to Radcliffe Borough, 2-0. In the next round we travel to Scarborough Athletic. On Tuesday night we were away to Spennymoor in the Durham County Cup, when the under 18’s were used by Martin Gray. Unfortunately they were defeated 4-0 by a strong Spennymoor team, however it is still good experience for the youngsters.

At the weekend we won away at Scarborough Athletic in the FA Trophy 4-0. We then picked up a vital league victory over local rivals Spennymoor Town at Heritage Park on Wednesday night. Graeme Armstrong scoring the only goal of the game inside the first minute.

Darlington made it eleven straight wins in league and cup, as we strengthened our position at the top of the league table. On Saturday we came away from Mossley with a 3-0 victory thanks to goals from Terry Galbraith, an own goal and a wonder strike from Stephen Thompson. We also played Whitby Town on Wednesday night in the Doodson Cup, where a youthful looking Quakers side lost out on penalties after a 3-3 draw.

At Kendal Town on Saturday we trailed 3-0 inside 15 minutes and despite goals from defenders Ian Watson and Alan White we lost the game, 4-2. The week did not get any better on Tuesday night, as we lost two straight games in the league for the first time this season at Farsley. Despite goals from Nathan Cartman and Terry Galbraith, we again were defeated, 3-2.
