Chris was signed during the summer of 2013 from Northern League club Shildon, for whom he had played for two seasons. He started his career at Northern League club Chester-le-Street before going to Yavapi College in Arizona and in his second season there was voted Most Valuable Player in the league. He then moved to California and played for University of California, Santa Barbara, and had a trial at Toronto before returning to the north east and signing for Shildon.

Chris was voted into the EvoStik First Division North team of the 2014-15 season by the managers of the division, and in 2015-16 began the season at centre half, before being successfully switched to right back. He missed some of the 2016-17 season because of injury, but was a regular for the last two months of the season.
