Paddy began his career in the youth system at Newcastle United before joining York City in 2012. He enjoyed immediate success with the Minstermen, helping the club win the FA Trophy and secure promotion to the Football League in his first season.
He went on to represent Grimsby Town, Gateshead and Hartlepool United before returning to York City in 2019. During his second spell at the club, he became a key figure as York re-established themselves in the National League, with a brief loan spell at Kidderminster Harriers in 2022.
Paddy first joined Darlington on loan from York City in October 2025 and quickly became a vital component in the Quakers’ midfield. His arrival coincided with the club’s impressive run of form during November, when Darlington lost just one league match. His performances and leadership earned him a permanent move to Blackwell Meadows ahead of the 2026/27 season.
Now entering his first full season as a permanent Darlington player, Paddy brings a wealth of experience and leadership to the squad. The midfielder made 27 appearances during his loan spell, becoming an influential figure both on and off the pitch with his composure, versatility and professionalism.
Manager’s Quote
“Paddy came to us at a time when we needed a bit of stability. I have worked with him before and he’s one of the best professionals you’ll ever meet. He’s incredibly important around the dressing room and is a very good player who can play in two or three positions. So to have Paddy onboard doesn’t only give us a good footballer, but also another leader in the dressing room, which you can’t have enough of.”
