Ciaran joined Darlington ahead of the 2026/27 season after impressing during a successful trial period with the club. A versatile defender, he featured in every pre-season fixture, playing in a variety of positions across the back line to earn himself a contract at Blackwell Meadows.

The Blyth-born defender began his career with Newcastle United, joining the club as a 13-year-old. He spent eight years progressing through the academy system, captaining the Under-21s and featuring in the National League Cup, EFL Trophy and UEFA Youth League. He also represented Newcastle United’s first-team squad in friendly fixtures against an Australian A-League XI in May 2024.

Comfortable anywhere across the back four, at wing-back or in a deeper midfield role, Ciaran adds versatility, composure and quality to the Darlington squad. His performances throughout pre-season demonstrated his defensive intelligence, technical ability and willingness to adapt, making him a valuable addition ahead of the new campaign.
