Josh Gillies
DOB 12/6/1990
Josh was signed by Darlington after he failed to agree a new contract with Gateshead during the summer of 2016.
Josh started his career at Northern League Sunderland Nissan, before moving on to Newcastle Blue Star, Blyth and Whitley Bay, for whom he scored in their 6-1 win over Wroxham in the 2010 Vase final.
He moved to Conference club Gateshead soon after that final, and he was top scorer for them with 15 goals in the 2012-13, a scoring rate that earned him two England C caps and a move to Football League club Carlisle. In November 2013 he had a loan spell at Cambridge and then another at Gateshead, whom he rejoined in the summer of 2015. However, after a good start at the club, he suffered a shoulder injury which meant that he missed most of the season.
He was an immediate hit with Quakers, and his form was so good that he was the Vanarama National League North’s player of the month in October 2016.
